King Chosen to Lead New Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Programs

(Hastings, NE) – Hastings College Athletic Director Chris Clements announced today that Tyler King has been named as the head men's and women's swimming and diving coach for the Hastings Broncos' new programs.

"We are very excited to welcome Tyler to Hastings College and our community. As we start our new swimming and diving programs, we are looking forward to seeing how Tyler can grow and develop our teams in and out of the pool," Clements said.

King comes to Hastings after spending the last two-and-a-half years as the Assistant Swim Coach at Lindsey Wilson University in Columbia, KY. He was responsible for assisting with practices, planning the schedules, and working as the recruiting and fundraising coordinator.

"I am most excited to get this Swimming program up and running here at Hastings College. I am very eager to get started with recruiting and grow this program from the ground up! I am also very excited to be a part of the Hastings community and I am looking forward to having an impact at the community YMCA," King said.

In 2024, he was named the Mid-South Conference Women's Assistant Coach of the year as a result of coaching the women's team to place sixth at the NAIA National Tournament, as well as ninth place on the men's side. Both of his teams improved on those results this past season in 2025, with the women placing third and the men taking seventh at the NAIA National Tournament.

In addition to coaching at Lindsey Wilson during his time in Columbia, King has also been the Head Club Coach at SKY Swimming for developing kids ages 6-18 with their swimming technique and speed, as well serving as a summer lifeguard. King is Red Cross certified in CPR/Lifeguarding and is a Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor.

King graduated from Lindsey Wilson in 2023 with a degree in Recreation, Tourism & Sport Management. As a student-athlete, he earned multiple swimming All-American awards and qualified for the NAIA National Championships all four years from 2020-2023.

"Athletes and Fans can expect me to be very personable. I want to make an impact on every athlete I come across as well as the people in the Hastings community. As always, I am also very driven to be successful which makes me excited for the chance to make a name for Hastings College at the collegiate swimming level," King said.
