SEWARD, Neb. – (RV) Midland University competed in a triangular Thursday night at Friedrich Arena, facing No. 17-ranked Friends University and (RV) Concordia University. The Warriors fell in their nonconference dual against Friends, 41-10, before closing the evening with a 46-3 loss to Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) rival Concordia.

No. 17 Friends 41, (RV) Midland 10

Friends opened the night with a pin at 125 pounds, as (12) Braydon Pacheco defeated Dylan Atherton in 1:05. The 133-pound bout ended in a double forfeit before Luke Kelley pinned Caden Ospina at 141 pounds in 1:46. Midland earned a forfeit victory at 149 pounds from Tate Rusher, but Friends responded with a fall by Mason Moore over Francisco Duran at 157 pounds in 1:21. The Falcons added forfeit wins at 165 and 174 pounds from Logan Sell and Benedict Holthaus, respectively. At 184 pounds, (16) Nate McDonald provided Midland's final points of the dual with a 12-1 major decision over (22) Jason Bowers. Friends closed the match with a 16-0 technical fall in 3:34 by (18) Logan Davidson over Collin Stone at 197 pounds and a forfeit win at heavyweight.

(RV) Concordia 46, (RV) Midland 3

In the nightcap against Concordia, Midland struck first as Atherton earned an 8-2 decision over Gabe Lujan at 125 pounds. Concordia quickly seized momentum with a forfeit win by Paul Ruff at 133 pounds and a 25-second pin from Bryce Karlin over Ospina at 141 pounds. The Bulldogs continued to build their lead with a forfeit victory by Hagen Heistand at 149 pounds and a 10-4 decision by Francisco Mendez over Duran at 157 pounds. Concordia added forfeit wins at 165 and 174 pounds from (24) Cole Price and Hunter Weimer. At 184 pounds, Barret Brandt edged McDonald in sudden victory, 4-1. The Bulldogs closed the dual with a pin by Torrance Keehn over Stone in 1:50 at 197 pounds and a 12-1 major decision by Jeremiah Vasquez over Dominick Decent at 285 pounds.

Midland (1-4, 1-3 GPAC) returns to action Saturday, Jan. 10th, in the Hastings Open. Competition begins at 9:00 a.m. at Hastings High School.
