
DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's golf program ranked 18th nationally (among all NCAA Division II squads) with a team GPA of 3.698 for the 2024-25 academic year per a release from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on Wednesday, which announced the WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award recipients.
Clara Laffitte achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year in BioChemistry and Chemical Biology. Not far behind were Claudia Portillo(3.96 - Management), Ting-Yu Kuo (3.95 - Marketing) and Sabel Imesch (3.90 - Global Supply Chain Management). Rounding out the squad of six student-athletes were Orianna Bylsma with a 3.31 in Neuroscience and Sophia Wygonik with a 3.07 in Accounting.
Imesch earned a few individual honors as well -- named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District (second straight season) squad, made the WGCA All-American Scholar Team and garnered GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition for the second time in as many years.
Laffitte joined Imesch on the Excellence Team in her first year of eligibility while Portillo and Kuo were also featured on the WGCA All-American Scholar Team.
